So lastnight, we decided to watch 'Paranormal Activity'. I was left so disappointed.
How this is called ''scariest movie of the year'' by multiple reviews is beyond me. I think it probably is one of the only 'scary movies' released in 2009 - But come on
*SPOILERS*
In the trailer, it looked to me like there were going to be a LOT of jumpy moments. I only jumped once, and that was just because Dave made me jump, lol. I am usually a person that does get scared all the time, but this failed me. It was pretty good the way the suspense was built in the first few 'night' scenes - but the imbetween scenes were so annoying. You had the stereotypical American Jock ''Come on out you pussy, I'll beat you up man!'' character, and it was a little fake how he had the camera on filming seriously unecessary stuff (I know they had to establish characters, but it would have been better having more scary stuff).
The moment it went bad for me was the minute they showed that woman that had been possessed & I immediately told Dave what was going to happen because it was so predictable. Then it went a little over the top with her being (badly) dragged out of bed and the ending (the one we had) was just lame. Apparantly there are three endings. One where she throws his body towards the camera and it falls or something like that, one where she crawls to the camera and shows her distorted face & one where she just sits there rocking all day, the police show up & shoot her (that's the one we had). I think I would have preferred one of the other two endings so I could have at least jumped once officially at the movie. The trailer must definitely be the reaction to one of those two endings. So yeah, I thought for the $15,000 he spent making it, he did an awesome job (coming from a fellow filmaker!) but I just wished he would have made it more of a haunting/''ordinary ghost'' story rather than the whole possession/exorcist thing.
Rant (finally) over!
Today I got my Blu Ray New Moon dvd (I wish I hadn't of watched all the special behind the scenes/Eclipse specials online - because I have nothing left to watch now, lol). I'm not even in the mood to watch the movie yet because I had it on my laptop the minute it was in cinemas & watched it over & over until I was sick of it! On the subject of movies, mine is coming along slowwwly. I went up to see my mum & dad today and got some editing done there then came home to film some last minute stuff before taking the camera back for 3pm.
Oh, did I mention the house next door was up for rent? Well it didn't stay there long! They were only asking for £600 a month (which is cheap for the size of it, 3 bedrooms, garden, conservatory, outbuildings etc). The buyer is apparantly a mother (who will be working at Bangor University as an accountant) & has a 9yr old daughter, so I'm quite happy. I'd been spying on all the visitors & they all seemed to have tiny babies & all's I could think about was how much they'd be crying in middle of the night, lol.
