10 Honest Things

Thank You to E, from Whining at The World for awarding me this award:

This means I have to share 10 honest truths about myself & then pass the award on to all of you fellow bloggers - watch out! I have a feeling this will take a while...

[1] I have a huge phobia of anything horrible to do with teeth & dentists. I even cried the other day at the thought of the small, metal mirror going into my mouth, seriously. However, I AM forcing myself to go for the first time in over 7 years this week. Eeeeeek!

[2] I was bullied at secondary school for being a tomboy & because my family owned a caravan site & because our house was situated ON the caravan site, everyone assumed I lived IN a caravan. I skipped lessons all the time because it got so bad & I would warm up my hand on the nurse's office radiator then put it on my head just before she took my temparature reading - just so I could go home. Now I love nothing more than looking at the bullies' profiles on facebook after they have added me, to see that most of them have kids with different fathers, they have lost their once great figures & are just going nowhere in life. Meow.

[3] I love music & I am actually a really good singer, but I would never admit this in person & I am too shy to sing in front of people, except Dave. I took piano lessons, then taught myself the rest & I can also play the clarinet. I love most music [including the cheesy stuff] & also love classical music & movie soundtracks. Is it bad that I have recently fallen in love with Taylor Swifts music? *hides*

[4] I treat my dog like my baby. I read an article about how, if you don't have children yet, your love for a pet is just as strong as it would be for your child & it is soo true. I find myself talking to him sometimes & spoiling him a little too much. I hate leaving him alone in the house for long periods of time too.

[5] My boyfriend is my best friend.

[6] I hate calling Dave my boyfriend. People always assume we've been together 2 minutes. The other day one of my lecturers asked where 'my boyfriend' lived & I had tell him that we had lived together for over 5 years & actually have a home together. We would get engaged but everytime we talk about it, someone else [usually the people that really have been going out for two minutes] do it, so we can't exactly steal their thunder. Grrrr.

[7] People assume I am such a 'girlie girl'. Mainly because I'm blonde, sometimes like to get dressed up & have a chihuahua. The truth is, most days I am in my usual jeans & shirt with messy hair & like nothing more than goofing around with Dave. Your talking to the girl that used to play with dinosaurs, spent most of my childhood in the woods on my rope swing & had wrestling rather than Take That/Boyzone posters all over my bedroom walls. Sticking my dog in a handbag...? Yeah right. I wouldn't even try.

[8] From the age of 8 until I was 14, every day, the minute I came home from school, I would get changed & take my dog Snoopy for a long walk/exploring. [Yes I did this until I was 14 & personally I'm glad I was doing this rather than hanging out with the other girls around bus stops, flirting with guys]. However, one day when I was walking in my usual place, I heard two men's voices behind me. I clearly heard one man say 'You go that way, she'll have nowhere to run, we'll block her off'. I had to pick up Snoopy & run struggle through an overgrown path & got cut & scratched all over. I ran home & told my brother & his friend what had happened - they ran all the way back to the scene, but the men were gone. This was when I was 14, to this day I am still a little scared of walking anywhere on my own.

-Whilst on the subject.. Snoopy passed away in 2008 & another honest truth is that I really, really miss every pet we have ever lost. Snoopy at least had a long & happy life. Bych on the other hand, who died in 2003 was only 7 when he died. He was an amazing wolf. Yep, wolf. His mother was an Alaskan Timber wolf & his dad was a gray wolf - we had to lie & say he was an alsatian/husky cross otherwise we would of had him taken away -

[9] I have never until now been happy with my weight. I used to be stick thin all throughout school & was too embarrassed to wear anything with no sleeves because I felt my arms were way too skinny. When I met Dave, I went through the relationship weight thing, where I put on a lot of weight. I wasn't 'fat' but I was heavier than what I wanted to be. Over this last year I have lost nearly all that weight & I try to use my treadmill a few times a week & actually enjoy it!

[10] I can 100% tell you that I am happy with my life as it is now. I wish I could change one or two little things but overall I am very happy & feel like the luckiest girl in the world most of the time. I love all the people I have met & all my experiences through life. I'm also a believer that everything happens for a reason.

& lastly the people I am going to pass this award onto are:

Kelly at Adventures of a Purly Girl

Tabitha at Life at Home

Joanie at Raising an Army

It was hard to choose, because most of you have already done the Honest Scrap challenge. If you haven't, make sure you do!

Wow, I'd love a pet wolf! Your chihuahua is adorable, I volunteer at an animal shelter and I'm getting a dog in a few weeks, I'm so excited!

I found your blog on NaBloPoMo, by the way. I live near Rhyl, not too far from Anglesey!

I can totally relate to the dentist thing. I think if it weren't for having a kid, I probably would still avoid it. *shudder*

I still refer to my dog as one of my babies. He was my baby for 5 years before the human one came along. He may not get AS MUCH attention as he used to, but he's still fairly spoiled. We are still sharing HIS bed, after all. =)

The dogs all look beautiful. I love the photo of Snoopy especially. He looks like a total sweetheart.

And finally, there's not too many people who can say they're 100% happy with their lives. It makes me smile to hear that you are. So forget about stealing anyone else's thunder. Go for it!

I volunteer at North Clwyd Animal Rescue which is in Trelogan, I took most of the photos for the website (all the cats, rabbits and about 80% of the dogs)

I don't really know of any others apart from the RSPCA. I think we're going to get a Jack Russell but we'll see on Sunday when we go there to take a look!

Thanks, I'm looking forward to getting started :)
